Why you should consider Dorchester as a wonderful spot for your new home
 
 
 
The small town of Dorchester is located just minutes to the city of London yet far enough away to keep the small town feel most fall in love with. We have a population of aprox 5000 people yet we have everything you and your family would ever need. With a 24 hour grocery store, 2 drug stores, 2 doctors, a Tim Horton’s, several gas and convenience stores, 2 banks, a lumber yard and a hardware store, as well as 2 restaurants, a subway, and 2 pizza stores there isn’t much you could possibly need that Dorchester could not provide.
 
Just like many small towns- Dorchester has a strong sports community with a new ice pad at our arena making it a double pad, with large gymnasium, walking track, and several meeting rooms. There are several sports teams in town such as: soccer, ringette, hockey, figure skating, basketball, volleyball, baseball and swimming. The park located in the centre of town is where you will find most of this action as well as tennis courts, Skate Park; kids play equipment, splash pad and wading pool.
 
Some of the more leisurely things to do around town include a nice, brisk walk around the mill pond, or perhaps some of the several kilometers of nature trails throughout the town. If golf is more your style we have two golf courses within 2 kms from town both with amazing restaurants. Lake Whittaker is a great place to spend the weekend camping....with its disc golf course, roomy campsites with hydro and water, and lake perfect for swimming, fishing or canoeing.
 
We are also very fortunate to have many wonderful schools right here in town- 4 schools in fact! River Heights Elementary school focuses on children aged JK- Grade 3, while Northdale central has children in grade 4- grade 8. St.David's is a smaller school of aprox 300 students and has grades JK- Grade 8 and our public high school is located on Queen Street and has aprox 600 students from all of Thames Centre.
